Biographical Information
Having been
both a traditional and nontraditional student who took
30 years to complete an undergraduate degree, I have an
understanding of how a person might be fifty years old
before they know with certainty what they want to be “when they grow up”. Since
my natural inclination has always been to be in a helping
profession in some capacity, my working years have been
spent in some aspect of either business or education, both
of which hold great appeal for me. I’ve been employed
in purchasing and customer service in wholesale business
and manufacturing, taught multiple elementary grades at
a private school, was a handicap aide and senior secretary
at a public middle school, and worked in various areas
of student affairs (student life, adult and transfer services,
campus recreation) at a public university. During this
time, I furthered my education, as family and work responsibilities
allowed. My strong interest in facilitating learning experiences
for students of all ages, my educational and work qualifications,
and my philosophy of education have led me to my current
position as an administrator in higher education at Antioch
University McGregor.
