Degree Committee: Students are members of a degree committee, consisting of a chair and a committee member. Susan Greenhill serves as each student’s degree committee chair. Each student picks a committee member outside the New Actors Workshop to serve as committee member. Antioch pays a modest stipend to the committee chair and member for serving in these roles.

Faculty Advisor: Students have an Antioch faculty advisor based in Yellow Springs, Ohio. The faculty advisor is not a member of the degree committee but works closely with the student and the committee to guide the student successfully in the program. A major responsibility of the faculty advisor is to ensure that the student’s program is at the graduate level and complies with the policies of Antioch University. The faculty advisor works with each student to meet the required academic benchmarks such as writing the individualized curriculum, appointing a degree committee, meeting the mid-point and candidacy reviews, and writing and performing the thesis.

Orientation Seminar: Students are required to attend a weekend seminar in October of their first-year. This seminar is held at New Actors Workshop and covers wring the individualized curriculum, recruiting the degree committee member and other facets of the program. Students will meet with their faculty advisor during this time.

Residency: In the second year, students are required to attend a weekend residency at Antioch University McGregor in Yellow Springs, Ohio. This residency is a chance for New Actors Workshop students to organize their ideas for a performance thesis and present them to classmates and faculty. The residency gives each student a chance to process ideas about the thesis as the concluding project within their education at the New Actors Workshop and Antioch.

Financial Aid: Students may apply for financial aid to pay tuition, books, fees, and other expenses at both the New Actors Workshop and Antioch University. Interested students should contact the Antioch University McGregor Financial Aid Office for details.

Tuition: Separate tuition is charged and collected by both schools.

Good Standing: Students must maintain good standing by meeting the requirements of the New Actors Workshop to continue in the Antioch University program. Student must be invited back for the second year at the New Actors Workshop in order to continue in the Antioch program.

QuoteI was so lucky to have found a program that sees the dignity of its students' commitments to family and career, as well as their educational goals. Designing my own master's was hard work, but well worth the effort. My experience at McGregor showed me how individualized learning is one of the best and most personal approaches to education. I am now prepared for the next step in my life, studying the history of women and religion at the doctoral level.Quote
