Biographical Information
Prior to coming to Antioch McGregor, Dr. Sharif served as Assistant Superintendent for the Vandalia Butler City Schools. She was responsible for the Curriculum and Instruction Department and served as the District’s gifted coordinator. Dr. Sharif has worked as a reading specialist, English as a Second Language and gifted education teacher. Dr. Sharif was the founding Executive Director for the Alliance for Educational Development, an adult workplace literacy initiative that was instrumental in teaching adults how to read at their employment sites. Among the awards received, Dr. Sharif was bestowed the honor of being the 1993 Educator of the Year by Time-Warner for workplace literacy initiatives. She received an Assistantship award from Miami University to work at the University Reading Clinic to diagnose and remediate reading difficulties for students and adults. As part of Miami Doctoral Associateship award Dr. Sharif supervised student teachers at a variety of K-12 schools in the Cincinnati area. She was the 1995 Outstanding Doctoral Fellow of the year at Miami University. Dr Sharif continues to offer professional development courses in Leadership and literacy internationally through a service project funded by USAID organizations. Dr. Sharif's research interests include visionary school leadership and change, multicultural and gifted education.
