Biographical Information
Dr. Bordenkircher has over 20 years
of experience in education in a variety of teaching and
administrative roles. He
has numerous teaching and administrative certificates and
licenses in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. His
areas of concentration include literacy, special education
of young children, early childhood theory and development,
and educational administration. He began his career
working with autistic children in 1985 and worked in various
teaching, administrative and consulting roles in both private
and public school systems. During the 1980’s,
his work with the homeless population in Pennsylvania earned
him a distinction of “point of light” and was
a guest at the White House under the Bush administration. He
published numerous articles on mentoring with an emphasis
on mentoring young children and worked as a consultant
in the U.S. Department of Labor in 1988-89. Since
moving to Ohio in 1991, he has served on a variety of state
proficiency and achievement testing committees, served
as the president of the Ohio School Supervisor’s
Association, appointed by the State Superintendent to serve
on the Ohio Teacher Education and Licensure Commission,
appointed by the former Governor Voinovich to serve as
the Ohio representative for NAEP testing in science, and
served as an Ohio NCATE Board of Examiner for many accreditation
reviews across Ohio. He recently left the Ohio Department
of Education where he was a higher education consultant
and an assistant director in the Center for the Teaching
Profession. Dr. Bordenkircher comes to us most recently
after leaving Capital University where he served as the
chair of the education department.
