Biographical Information
Dr. Marian Celine Glancy is from Edinburgh,
Scotland. She initially came to the United States on a
Fulbright Teacher Exchange Program in 1994 and spent one
year teaching in Dayton Public Schools. Dr. Glancy’s
collegiate experience includes supervision of student teachers,
teaching middle childhood courses for preservice teachers,
and conducting research on graduate teachers’ reflective
practice. Prior
to studying and teaching in the United States, she taught
at the community college level for 12 years, working with
students having special educational needs and mental
health issues. She also served as a special education consultant
to public schools in Edinburgh. As an international educator,
Dr. Glancy has conducted workshops on comparative European
models of inclusive education. Her research interests include
democratic education, critical teacher pedagogy, teacher
reflective practice, and education as a social justice
concern. In her spare time, Marian enjoys politics, reading,
movies, playing golf and spending time with her partner
and her cat Chloe.
