Overview
The 27 quarter credit reading endorsement program consists of 6 classes that prepare certificated, provisionally or professional licensed teachers to earn a P-12 Ohio Reading Endorsement certificate. The classes are designed for practicing professionals and are offered in the evenings. If you have graduated from any ECE, MCE, or AYA Antioch University McGregor teacher licensure program, up to four of the six required courses may be waived.
This license is added to any valid Ohio teaching license and permits teachers to teach any reading to all students at any grade level, including Title II reading programs. The reading endorsement also prepares teachers to oversee the reading curriculum, diagnose reading difficulties, and supervise reading non-professional staff.
This license requires candidates to take the ETS Praxis II test number 0200 offered at many locations and at many times throughout the year. However, this 27 quarter credit reading program at Antioch University McGregor more than prepares candidates to pass this test at or above the Ohio cut score.
The reading endorsement is the preferred license to teach reading in Ohio. Professionals who teach under this license are considered highly qualified in reading under the current definition in Ohio.
