Alternative Educator License Program (AEL)

Overview

This program is designed for individuals who have already earned their baccalaureate degree and now wish to teach. AEL is an Ohio Department of Education (ODE) initiative that provides a streamlined path to teaching in grades 7-12. The AEL also prepares K-12 teachers for students with special needs. The AEL provides for a non-renewable two-year license. After two years those with the AEL are eligible to earn a Provisional Teaching License.
