Demonstration of Advanced Status

(M.A. Students Only)

The final phase of the Master of Arts program is a project designed to integrate theory, research, and application in an area of individualized interest.  This experience provides the student with a means by which s/he may demonstrate an ability to do advanced work in the field.  Students must complete one of the following, under the guidance of a faculty advisor:

  • Advanced Study: Capstone Course--A program of advanced individualized study and training in specific areas of conflict processes and intervention.
  • Master’s Thesis: A scholarly investigation of a set of theoretical and practical research questions in conflict dynamics, resolution, or intervention.
  • Master’s Project: A practical or artistic project in conflict studies designed, carried out, and reported in a written format. May include program design and implementation; program evaluation; or creation of dramatic, artistic, or literary work.
