Jennifer
Bullock
M.A. in Conflict Resolution, 2001
Hometown: San Francisco, CA.
After
several years as a volunteer mediator with a victim-offender mediation
program and a community-based mediation program, and after a practicum
placement working in the office at Community Boards in San Francisco,
Jennifer joined the staff at the Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center
(PCRC) in San Mateo County, CA (immediately south of San Francisco) in
the middle of her MACR program. Currently, Jennifer is Manager of Mediation
Programs at PCRC, a 16-year-old, non-profit organization that provides
a wide range of mediation and related conflict resolution services.
Jennifer oversees PCRC's community
mediation program, several specialized mediation programs (for
example: Superior Court referred and homeowners association cases),
and works on
a variety of "complex" or multi-party mediation cases.
She is also the lead staff person in managing PCRC's pool of
approximately 180 volunteers,
contributes to PCRC's training services, and works on ensuring
the quality of PCRC's mediation services. Through her work at
PCRC, Jennifer has nurtured
her interest and skills in multi-party mediation cases, small-group
facilitation and training. In this capacity, Jennifer frequently
works with city government
staff members to help design and facilitate neighborhood meetings
to address community-wide conflict situations. She recently led
a team of trainers
in providing an 11-hour training in "Skills for a Facilitative Leader" which
was custom designed for a group of staff from the City of Redwood
City. Also, Jennifer helps design and implement on-going training
sessions for
PCRC's volunteer mediators.
According to Jennifer, "I've always
been focused on working in a community-mediation setting and
was drawn to Antioch's MACR program, in part, because of its
combination of theory
and practice. I wanted to deepen my practical training and experience
as a volunteer mediator with bigger picture thinking about conflict,
communication and human interaction. I found that the program
delivered that, as well
as the invaluable opportunity to interact with, and learn from,
faculty and students with a wealth of knowledge, an array of
experiences and a
variety of approaches to conflict resolution."
