McGregor sponsor of "American Family"
to Air on ThinkTV
YELLOW SPRINGS, OHIO --
January 16, 2002 -- Antioch University McGregor is the local
sponsor of a new PBS program American Family that will air
on ThinkTV, Channel 16 in Dayton, Ohio. The program debuts Wednesday,
January 23,
at 8:00pm. McGregor will be thanked at the beginning and the
end of the show each time it airs; there are 13 episodes in total
for the first season
(which are repeated twice a week and may be picked up by ThinkTV's
sister station).
"American Family" is the
first Latino drama ever to air on broadcast television and the first original
American episodic drama on PBS in decades. It has already received national
attention and will be featured in an upcoming issue of TV Guide. This
sponsorship is the first of several advertising projects we are planning
to reach a broader audience in the Miami Valley. It reflects McGregors
own commitment to diversity and forward-thinking initiatives.
We are truly proud to be the first and ONLY local education institution
to partake
in this ground-breaking event.
"American Family" is a heartwarming
drama that reveals the enduring strength of family in America today as
it chronicles the lives of the Gonzalez family of East Los Angeles. Jess
Gonzalez (Edward James Olmos), a Mexican-American barbershop owner, is
the patriarch of the Gonzalezes: Berta (Sonia Braga), his wife of many
years, and their grown children, Nina (Constance Marie), Esteban (Esai
Morales), Vangie (Rachel Ticotin), Conrado (Kurt Caceres) and Cisco (A.J.
Lamas). The extended family includes flamboyant Aunt Dora (Raquel Welch),
Jess sister. Together, they form an American family living through
the universal struggles and triumphs of daily domestic life.
