YELLOW SPRINGS, OHIO--February 22,
1999--Following a national search,
the Board of Trustees of Antioch University has appointed Dr. Barbara Gellman-Danley
as President of Antioch University McGregor, effective May 1, 1999. The appointment
was made at the Board's February meeting held in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Danley is a senior level higher education administrator with 20 years of
experience. She is currently the Vice President for Educational Technology
at Monroe Community College in Rochester, NY. Monroe Community College is part
of the State University of New York. From 1991 to 1995, she served as Vice
President for Institutional Advancement at Monroe. Monroe Community College
serves over 14,000 students a year at two campuses.
"I believe that Barbara Gellman-Danley will bring significant strengths
to McGregor and to the University," said Antioch University Chancellor James
W. Hall. "She is intelligent, an articulate communicator and good listener,
has substantial experience in higher education management, a very strong suit
in technology management and usage, and a reputation as a collaborative team
player."
Chairman of the Board of Trustees Robert D. Krinsky said, "I
am delighted with the successful work of the search committee
which has resulted in the
appointment of an outstanding individual to lead McGregor in the years ahead."
As Vice President for Educational Technology, a new division created after
a major re-organization in 1994-95, Danley was responsible for the reengineering
of all educational and information technology at the College, including the

the new division, including the libraries of both campuses. The division completed
a major comprehensive technology plan for Monroe. The plan is used as a model
for several colleges across the country.

"Antioch University McGregor builds upon a long-standing tradition of excellence
in higher education," Danley said. "I am proud to become part of a
university that bridges this history and reaches out to serve adult learners
in a variety of professional fields. I plan to work closely with faculty and
staff to meet the needs of our constituents in the Miami Valley, southwestern
Ohio, and beyond as we move into the next millennium."
Dr. Danley was named IT Executive of the Year in 1998, an award sponsored by
