Antioch University
McGregor Partners with League for Innovation in the Community College
YELLOW SPRINGS, Ohio, August
26, 2002–Antioch University McGregor is pleased to announce its
new partnership with the League for Innovation in the Community
College, a leader in developing community college professionals
to be agents of
innovation and change within community colleges, their communities,
and the larger society. Antioch University McGregor shares many
educational
values with community colleges and is committed to supporting
community
colleges through lifelong, graduate learning of their faculty,
staff, and administrators.
The Antioch McGregor-League
partnership focuses on two benefits for community college faculty, staff
and administrators: (1) specialized graduate education designed to address
the needs of community college professionals and (2) scholarships toward
the cost of graduate education.
Starting in July 2003,
Antioch University McGregor will offer a unique master of arts
in management for individuals interested in community college
management. This program
combines theory and skills of leading edge management with realities
faced by community colleges. This two-year master’s degree is specifically
designed for the working professional, with online courses and one 5-day
residency each year. McGregor’s partnership with the League for
Innovation in the Community College has resulted in the Antioch
McGregor-League Alliance Scholarship, which is open to anyone
who is employed by a community
college that is a member of the League for Innovation in the
Community College and who enrolls in the community college management
track of the
master of arts in management.
In addition to the master’s
degree, Antioch University McGregor has customized some of its elective
coursework to coincide with the League’s two international conferences:
Conference on Information Technology, which occurs each fall, and Innovations
Conference, which occurs each spring. Conference attendees can incorporate
the knowledge they gain at these conferences into graduate courses offered
by Antioch University McGregor. At these conferences, students select
and attend sessions that address their personal and professional interests
and meet with faculty and other students. Once they return home, students
continue to study online and independently, building upon what they learned
at these conferences. At the upcoming 2002 CIT conference, students will
have the opportunity to enroll in up to seven graduate professional development
courses. These courses provide community college faculty, staff, and administrators
with the opportunity to participate in formal study around subjects that
are particularly important to their profession. In addition, up to 10
credits of these professional development courses may be applied toward
the community college management track of McGregor’s master of arts
in management.
Antioch University McGregor’s
partnership with the League also helps defray the cost of graduate study.
All conference attendees are eligible for McGregor’s Professional
Development Scholarship, which awards a 10% discount off the
tuition for these professional development courses.
The Antioch McGregor-League
for Innovation in the Community College represents the deep commitment
that McGregor makes to our colleagues who work in community colleges.
We invite members of the community college field to join the Antioch University
McGregor community and enroll in our graduate courses. For more information,
