TO OHIO BOARD OF REGENTS STAFF

Interim president selection process begins

YELLOW SPRINGS, Ohio – Antioch University Chancellor Toni Murdock today announced that Dr. Barbara Gellman-Danley, president of Antioch University McGregor, has been selected to help lead Ohio higher education efforts as Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs and System Integration for the Ohio Board of Regents.

Dr. Gellman-Danley will continue as Antioch University McGregor president through August. Chancellor Murdock announced the start of an interim president selection process to be followed by a national search for McGregor’s future full-time leader.

“During her 9 years as Antioch University McGregor president, Barbara has exhibited the utmost in leadership skills,” Murdock said. “It is no surprise that she should be asked to take the state stage in Ohio higher education leadership. Barbara’s stewardship of Antioch University McGregor has represented best practices in higher education that Ohio is looking for statewide. It is an honor to have had one of our leaders tapped to support the Ohio higher education system, and I wish her the greatest of success in her new role.”

Gellman-Danley said leadership of the growth of Antioch University McGregor during her time as president has been a professionally and personally rewarding experience that she will continue to cherish.

“I have the greatest pride for what Antioch University McGregor has accomplished over the past 9 years,” Gellman-Danley said. “I truly believe that the education model we have put into place will prove to be a model to other Ohio higher education institutions, and I look forward to applying my experience at McGregor in my new role with the Ohio Board of Regents. I will miss Antioch University McGregor, but it will remain a part of me.”

During her tenure as president, Gellman-Danley oversaw at Antioch University McGregor:

  • The creation of MIIND, the McGregor Institute on Intellectual Development
  • Teacher accreditation through National Council on Accreditation for Teacher Education (NCATE)
  • McGregor’s 2007 move to its new Yellow Springs campus
  • Growth in education endorsements and licensures for working educators
  • The launch of the Classroom of the Future classroom technology stimulation program
  • The introduction of low-residency and online education programs including Graduate Management and Masters in Conflict Analysis and Management
  • The launch of new masters programs such as the Masters in Community College Management.
