Alternative Educator License/Certification Available through
Antioch McGregor

Yellow Springs, Ohio—In order to help meet Ohio’s demand for qualified teachers by reaching potential teachers statewide, Antioch University McGregor announced that it will offer the support needed for individuals to pursue a 7-12 grade teaching credential in an online format. McGregor will deliver these online courses beginning in January.  The courses, Adolescent Development and Classroom  Management, meet the requirements for Ohio’s Alternative Educator License (AEL).  This license is for mature career changers who want to teach in grades 7-12.  Math, science and foreign language teachers are particularly needed in Ohio’s schools.  Other teaching fields can also qualify.

AEL support falls under the umbrella of McGregor’s Academy for Teaching Excellence within the School of Education.  The School is accredited by NCATE (National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education) as well as Antioch University McGregor’s regional accreditation by NCA (Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools).

Antioch University McGregor contributes to the betterment of the individual and the community by fostering academic excellence and providing socially responsive, flexible and innovative education programs for adult learners. McGregor features a wide array of bachelor’s degree completion programs, master’s programs in conflict resolution, management and education and also an individualized master of arts.

Potential students interested in the Alternative Educator License are asked to contact Oscar Robinson at orobinson@mcgregor.edu or call 937-769-1818. For information go to www.mcgregor.edu/education/AEL
