The Community College Management track of the master of arts in management provides a unique educational experience for current and aspiring community college managers and administrators. Through this specialized master of arts in management, you participate in a multi-dimensional approach to the science and art of community college management.
You accomplish this–and more–by studying with your colleagues and our faculty, academic practitioners who understand what it takes to successfully manage in the community college environment.
Students enrolled in the program are able to earn five graduate certificates as they work toward their master’s degree. Certificates may be pursued individually. Click on the sections below to learn more.

Program Objectives
Upon graduation, students should be able to demonstrate a variety of competencies that will be needed by community college managers in the 21st Century:
- Mastery of the foundational areas of management as applied to the community college setting.
- Mastery of the use of the community college mission as a framework for community college management decision making.
- Effective strategies for responding to the social, political, and economic issues that affect community colleges.
- Effective interpersonal and teamwork skills within a diverse workgroup.
- Mastery of effective strategies for communicating and working with others who are separated by time and space.
- Effective strategies for being a reflective practitioner.
Program Design
This limited residency, online master's program starts in September each year. Students participate in one of three delivery options:
All students are required to attend at least one 3-day residency each year they are enrolled in the program.
Students must complete 52-quarter-credits to graduate from the program. Courses are delivered online in intensive 5-week blocks. Each course is typically worth 2 credits, with 4-credit courses being delivered in two consecutive 5-week blocks.
